Honoring Those Who Paved the Way at USF

Jack Heinsius ’58

For four and half centuries, Jesuit institutions have remained dedicated to values-based education, preparing the hearts and minds of young people to be of service to others. At USF, we share that dedication and are committed to providing opportunities to bright students who will become tomorrow's leaders.

Nearly two thirds of USF students rely on financial support and one third are the first in their families to attend college. Financial support from USF alumni and friends makes a Jesuit education possible.

Jack Heinsius ’58 was the first in his family to attend college. A loyal annual donor to USF, Jack has planned a bequest in memory of his mother Lois P. Heinsius, who helped pave the way for his education.

Jack Heinsius ’58

“My mother was hard-working, selfless, and adamant that I receive a first-class Jesuit education. She was a single mother caring for my infirmed grandfather while trying to grow her own business. Without the financial and emotional support of my mother, I would not have had the opportunity to attend USF. My mother not only gave me life - she enriched it immeasurably.

“My Jesuit education had a tremendous impact on my life. The caring faculty and the influence of my fellow students opened my world to new possibilities.

“Many USF students have similar stories and I can think of no better way to honor those who made our education possible and to continue the tradition of Jesuit higher education in San Francisco than through a simple bequest to USF.”
